Looking to get some exercise? You might want to consider hiking in Porter Ranch. You might not even have to drive to the trailhead! Porter Ranch offers a number of easy trails that you and your family can explore, with great views, spring wildflowers, and a short drive.
Palisades Trail seen from Braemore Cliffs
The Palisades Trail is located just below the Braemore Cliff between Tampa and Rinaldi. There are a few ups and downs, but the trail is mostly flat. On a clear day you can see Woodland Hills, Downtown and Glendale. There is no shade on this trail, so if you are sensitive to the heat, you could check the weather or go early in the day. You could start on Tampa, take the trail to Reseda and then proceed up to Braemore to circle back.
The Limekiln Canyon Trail is accessible from Rinaldi just west of Tampa or you may access it on Tampa north of the Porter Ranch Estates bridge. This trail runs the length of the canyon. You can park a second car at the bottom, but start from the top so you don't have to hike up or for a more thorough workout hike up and down. This trail offers shade and views of Limekiln Canyon Creek. At the bottom of the trail, just north of Rinaldi are some benches and exercise equipment. One way down is about one and a half hours.

The Aliso Canyon Trail is accessible from the east end of Sesnon or Rinaldi, just east of Reseda. It is an easy hike downhill or uphill with stream crossings a majestic old oaks. It can be a quick hike or a leisurely stroll if you stop to picnic and smell the flowers.
