BASIC CAR 17A35

09-02-2016

CRIME TRENDS AND LOCATIONS:

We saw a slight increase in Residential Burglaries during the month of August, 2016 with 21 hits, fairly scattered throughout the Basic Car Area. Six were in The North Granada Hills sector; six in the Porter Ranch sector and the rest were below the 118 Freeway from Tampa Avenue to Hayvenhurst Avenue, within the borders of our Basic Car Area.

Burglary/Theft from Motor Vehicle activity was light North of Rinaldi and heavier around the immediate vicinity of Granada Hills High School with approximately a dozen hits for the month of August. The most common/recent method of entry to the vehicles appears to have been achieved by using an electronic signal busting device.

UPCOMING NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING:

Our next Neighborhood Watch Basic Car meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 7:00 P.M., at Saint Euphrasia Church, 11767 Shoshone Avenue in Granada Hills.

CRIME PREVENTION INFORMATION:

Don't get complacent at anytime, anywhere.  Always look around…doesn't matter if you are out shopping, out for a walk or on your property just watering your lawn. Be aware of who's around you and always think one step ahead; what would you do if someone was to unexpectedly approach you? You have to see that person coming in order not to be startled and be able to quickly evaluate the situation. Is this a friend or a foe? Do I want to stand here and engage or do I want to divert right away? A split second may be all you have to make the right decision.

Think accordingly and pre-plan.

Report all non-emergency suspected criminal activities to the L.A.P.D. direct dispatch number at 1-877-275-5273.

With sincere gratitude to all active Neighborhood Watch members, always.

The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.

The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community. The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. The agenda is emailed to those who subscribe (see the green box in the upper corner), on our website here and posted at 11280 Corbin Avenue, Northridge, CA 91326 on a bulletin board facing Corbin street.

The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to help you make Porter Ranch a better place to live, work and grow. We can't do it for you, but we can do it with you.
