Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council announces “Extra LAPD Police Patrols have been extended indefinitely in Porter Ranch”  as a Result of the PRNC’s  intervention

Today, Monday, May 2, 2016, LAPD Senior Lead Officer, Danny Del Valle, reported to the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council that “the Southern California Gas Company/ Sempra and the Los Angeles Police Department have reached an agreement to extend the stationary LAPD patrols in Porter Ranch”.  They have been extended indefinitely.  This agreement was negotiated at the insistence and intervention of the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council, Councilman Mitchell Englander, the Los Angeles Police Department, Lt Tim Toursney and Senior Lead Officer Danny Del Valle of the Devonshire Area of the LAPD.  This is not a court order.  It is an agreement that was reached by all parties involved to insure the safety of all of the Porter Ranch Communities in light of the recent Aliso Canyon Gas Leak.

“The Courts have ordered an extension for those stakeholders who have relocated.  The court extension and the extension of Patrol Officers go hand in hand.  This decision came as a direct result of that order.  If residents are still out of their homes, patrols must be extended in an effort to provide a safe community for all”, said Senior Lead Officer Danny Del Valle.  Officer Del Valle and Officer Dario Del Core oversee the policing in the Porter Ranch Community affected by the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak which was reported on October 23, 2015.  The well was capped in February but many residents feel it is unsafe to return.

“What this means”, Del Valle said, “is a number of officers will be patrolling Porter Ranch 100% of the time.  Calls for service will be answered and dealt with very quickly.  It is a proactive approach to community policing which will safeguard the residents and prevent intruders.  The Officers will not be called out of Porter Ranch to patrol other areas.  They will remain in Porter Ranch.  This approach has been very effective in thwarting crime during the absence of stakeholders who have relocated. “

Along with the extension of LAPD Patrols, message boards which announce “LAPD IS IN THE AREA: Report All Suspicious Activity to 911” will be resurrected in the next few days on Sesnon Boulevard. The message boards were purchased by Supporters of Law Enforcement in Devonshire (SOLID).

Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council applauds the efforts of all of those that helped us retain the LAPD Patrol Officers.

The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.

The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community. The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. The agenda is emailed to those who subscribe (see the green box in the upper corner), on our website here and posted at 11280 Corbin Avenue, Northridge, CA 91326 on a bulletin board facing Corbin street.

The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to help you make Porter Ranch a better place to live, work and grow. We can't do it for you, but we can do it with you.
