The CPUC will hold a meeting on December 19, 2024 to consider a proposal to keep Aliso Canyon Gas Storage still in place unlike a proposal earlier this year that presented options on how to close it. You can submit public comment ahead of the meeting here: https://bit.ly/3ZsYzhv and click on the public comments tab. Please post a comment that says you’re against the proposed decision. You can add any reasons if you wish (health and safety concerns, etc.).
You can also call in with your comment:

When It’s your turn, after stating your name, start by saying you want the Commissioners to vote AGAINST the proposed decision. You can then state reasons why. See below for issues you can bring up.
You will have one minute to give your spiel. When the one minute is up, you’ll hear a signal and you’ll need to finish your sentence before being cut off.
Wait times to speak will depend on how many are in the queue before you. First, those who are in the hearing room will get their chance to speak and then callers. Everyone in the queue will have their chance to talk.

Talking Points
Here are suggestions you can bring up during your comment or you can add personal reasons (how Aliso has affected you, etc.):
- Aliso is a health and safety risk, so keeping it open will violate Section 451 of the Public Utilities Code.
- Aliso’s wells are bisected by the Santa Susana fault line and are located in a high fire hazard severity zone.
- A finding from the current UCLA health study has shown that Aliso affected pregnant women. A statistically significant number of babies born then weighed 5.5 pounds or less.
- The CPUC should instead be voting to accept the 2022 staff proposal that maps out different ways Aliso Canyon can be closed by 2027 and we still will have energy reliability.
- The proposed decision ignores current and future technologies that will provide and store energy so the demand for gas is dropping.
