The winds also have downed a number of trees in Porter Ranch. Monday morning an engine from Fire Station #8 was on hand in front of Castlebay Lane Elementary to deal with 2 Crape Myrtle trees that had fallen and were blocking school traffic. Three trees were also down on Killoch Way. One of them crushed the back end of a black SUV.

Brush Clearance: The City of Los Angeles Sanitation Department of Public Works provides for "one time brush collection/year" which you can use to get brush that was blown down in the winds removed. Residences can go to the City site and fill out a refuse service request form which is submitted electronically to the department. You can also contact them at 800-773-2489. Residences requiring this service should select their trash collection day as the pick up day. Special trucks will be routed to our area based the the requests that have been received therefore, you are urged to completed this form as far in advance of your pick up day as possible.

"Please Note: Brush Items must be tied in bundles or placed in bags. Each bundle or bag must weigh no more than 30 pounds and must be tied securely and be 4 feet or less in length.

The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.

The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community. The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. The agenda is emailed to those who subscribe (see the green box in the upper corner), on our website here and posted at 11280 Corbin Avenue, Northridge, CA 91326 on a bulletin board facing Corbin street.

The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to help you make Porter Ranch a better place to live, work and grow. We can't do it for you, but we can do it with you.
