How to research what wells are on the mountain and who is operating them

Here is the link to DOGGR's WellSearch online tool.  https://secure.conservation.ca.gov/WellSearch

This is a little different than 'WellFinder," which allows you to zoom in and change map views.  This WellSearch tool let's your search for well data by specific number or by proximity in a DOGGR district, a county, an oil field, etc.

If you go to that link above and use the drop-down box under "Field" you can select Aliso Canyon.  That will yield 186 results and you can then sort by operator.  There are three operators in the field -- SoCalGas, The Termo Company and Crimson Resources.  They inject and produce from different, isolated formations under the surface boundaries of the Aliso Canyon field.  That boundary can be found on WellFinder.  Details about the individual wells can be reached using WellFinder (click on the well symbol and get the well data link) or by clicking on the API number in the WellSearch online tool.

Update as of April 18, 5:30pm:

On Saturday, April 16, the Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) and Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) were notified about a well leaking oil and gas in Aliso Canyon. The well is an oil-producing well owned and operated by Crimson Resource Management Corporation. DOGGR immediately dispatched engineers to the site. The leak was immediately contained and the well was shut in at the surface after it was found to be leaking. The reported amount of oil released was 2 barrels (84 gallons) and it has been cleaned up. Crimson operates 12 wells in the field; only four are active. DOGGR will inspect all of Crimson’s wells starting Monday. DOGGR oversees the drilling, operation, maintenance, and plugging and abandonment of oil, gas and geothermal wells.

April 16, 2016 Notice from SoCal Gas: Earlier today we become aware that a third party company that operates at the Aliso Canyon site experienced a localized oil spill with gas venting at their petroleum well.  This well is not owned or operated by SoCalGas.  Upon learning this, we immediately notified California OES and relevant agencies. Attached is a copy of the incident report.  Please contact the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services directly for additional information.

PRNC President Paula Cracium is working to get more information on this, but understands that this leak is stopped.
